Roofcast uses a CPMM-based liquidity mechanism because it lets markets open in a tradable state from day one, without making the user experience feel complicated.
The goal in this phase is practical market launch, usable liquidity, and honest learning from live participation. We prefer to be clear about the mechanism and its tradeoffs rather than make it seem simpler than it is.

Why Roofcast uses CPMM liquidity
Roofcast uses a CPMM-based liquidity mechanism so markets can be tradable from the start. For an early-stage market layer, this is a practical launch mechanism: it supports active markets, faster deployment, and useful learning from real user behavior.
What happens during active markets
In a constant-product style pool, price is determined by the reserve balance. If liquidity is added while a market is already active and unbalanced, price can move temporarily. That is not a bug. It is an inherent property of the mechanism, and traders typically move price back toward prevailing sentiment over time.
How Roofcast manages LP tradeoffs over time
Roofcast is transparent that liquidity providers can face impermanent loss when price moves away from their entry level. Over time, we expect to improve LP economics through better opening prices, stronger market design, sensible settlement durations, and potentially more advanced prediction-market-specific liquidity mechanisms.
What LPs should know
Liquidity provision involves risk. If price moves materially away from the level at which liquidity was added, LPs can experience impermanent loss. Roofcast is not hiding that tradeoff. We want users to understand it before participating.
Why this is the right starting point
For the play-money phase, simplicity, launch speed, and learning from observed user behavior matter most. CPMM gives Roofcast a usable base today while we continue refining market design, opening prices, and longer-term LP economics.
